Why do great strategies fail? It is hard to say because the reasons are many and differ by organization and circumstances. However, a great strategy cannot succeed without it resonating with the culture of the organization. This might be a natural fit with the strategy designed keeping in mind the culture of the organization or it might be a force fit where the culture is changed to support the strategy. The latter is a Herculean task as many a leader have realized at great expense to their careers.
