Sample IT Strategy Plan of a Higher Education Institution

This presentation provides the IT Strategy for Drexel University - what they care to share of course!

The thing I liked about this presentation is that Dr. John A. Bielec, VP/CIO of Drexel University, has gone into the rationale behind developing the IT Strategy for the university. Depending on the IT Strategy framework/methodology you use one has to provide critical success factors or business drivers or business imperatives or Porter's five forces analysis etc. to justify the imperatives for IT - before one goes into the specific IT projects to address those imperatives. This presentation goes a good job of providing those drivers.

The presentation also includes slides on the "intangibles" in IT Strategy - things not necessarily based on "logic" but on your intuition as a practitioner. The intuition of the practitioner is what differentiates any strategy developed by one team from that of another given the same set of facts on the ground. Not surprisingly, it is also that one thing that differentiates a successful strategy from a failed one!

Good Read!
