“From the outside looking in, the status of the IT leader appears to be positive. Important responsibilities like business integration have been substantially increased; compensation has risen considerably, and outsourcing objectives are being met. Why then are so many IT leaders receptive to the thought of changing positions? IT leaders report that they are driven by the desire for expanded decision-making opportunities, more management responsibility and a greater involvement in business strategy. This desire for authority is the undercurrent impacting many aspects of this study and its findings.”
