Four Models for the Role of the CTO

 This paper tries to define the role of the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) and presents four models to help understand or perhaps implement the role in an organization.

 "This paper explores two fundamental questions: What are the current models in corporations for the role of the CTO? Which model is right for your company?"

Most people will be stumped defining stupid. Is it a surprise the CTO role lacks definition? Here is how a CTO responds to the question: “I suspect it will be difficult to define the role of the CTO as many people attribute different functions to the CTO. To me, one common function is the ability to assess technology’s strategic future impact on the corporation.”
