Leadership Tip: Never Underestimate the Organizational Culture

Unfortunately, as the leader of the IT pack, your prayers are likely falling on deaf ears. So you must reconcile to the fact that after crafting a vision, the biggest thing that is in the way of its success is: organizational culture.

This is the topic worthy of discussion spanning books, indeed volumes. We will devote the requisite time to it but let us get started with a very good article that is attached to this note.

What is organizational culture?

Organizational culture is like the personality of an individual. It is real. It manifests itself in all actions taken. It is deep seated. It is hard to change. It builds quickly but takes time to change. It has no power of introspection. It is molded by all actions in the environment. It is passed on from generation to generation without a word being written or spoken on the topic.

My recommendation is to move beyond the definition to actually understand culture and ways to affect it. As a leader, your success or failure depends on it.

Enclosed is an article, even though somewhat theoretical and in parts focused on the government, which makes the introduction to this topic in a very effective way.
