Leadership or Management: What’s Your Style?


The main objective of leadership is to create value. Leaders reach this goal through different means. These means are determined by their styles. Is one style more effective than the other?

The short answer is NO!

A leader should follow what comes naturally to them. They should modify this to suit the needs of the team or change these expectations. However, if the leaders' style is contrary to the natural needs of their team then the results are inevitably disastrous.

As you read the article and engage in the academic exercise of identifying your style please think through the implications of that style. Will it work in your current situation? If you think about changing your style to suit the situation, then think about the consequences. Teams detest phonies more than they detest dictators!
