Integrated Enterprise Architecture Framework and Tool

This document presents an enterprise architecture modeling tool that supports verifiable business value creation. The author contends that existing enterprise architecture toolset, while feature rich, lacks the ability for analysis driven managerial decision making - the focus is on the thoroughness, coverage, and mapping of enterprise systems to business processes, and organization not on whether the resulting model supports business value creation. The proposed EA tool aims to overcome this gap. (250+ pages)

Organizations are constantly grappling with cybersecurity, system availability, and interoperability complexities. This advanced enterprise architecture analysis tool provides a comprehensive solution, catering to the need for a detailed examination of these critical aspects. It addresses the challenge of aligning IT infrastructure with business goals, a task often hampered by security vulnerabilities and system inefficiencies. By leveraging this tool, decision-makers can better understand their enterprise architecture, enabling them to make informed choices that enhance system security, reliability, and cross-functional integration. This research explores the tool's development, offering a strategic asset for improving organizational IT strategies.

The current enterprise architecture toolset provides excellent modeling functionality - descriptions of the key components of the enterprise and the systems, data, and infrastructure that support them. Using these tools gives one an excellent idea of system coverage of business functions and organization. These descriptive models are very useful in primarily cost-driven decision-making. Questions such as, "Do we have a system for that? Are multiple systems doing the same thing?" are quickly answered. However, "Does this model create business value?" "How will the enterprise react to this new product launch or market entry?" or "Which design is the best to support this new product" are not answered by descriptive models. The proposed enterprise architecture tool borrows techniques from other fields and applies them to the enterprise architecture domain to create a capability for analysis that supports business decision-making.
