 This paper presents the results of a research study conducted by McKinsey to gain insights into the business use of Web 2.0 technologies.

McKinsey studied over 50 early adopters of web 2.0 technologies and surveyed executives on the adoption of these technologies. They found that the web 2.0 journey is just beginning i.e. challenges lie ahead. Survey respondents were evenly split between those who were satisfied with the results and those who weren't. The dissenters cited many hurdles to adoption such as organizational structure, inability of managers to understand the new game and the value it can create for their organization. Many abandon their efforts mid stream.

The study identifies critical success factors for organizations for focus on to ensure successful value creation using web 2.0.
